Sales and Marketing Assistant Job Posting

Quince & Apple, a small-batch food manufacturer, is looking for a part-time sales and marketing assistant, based in Madison or remote. The position is 30 hours a week, 9:30am-3:30pm M-F, Central time. Pay is $13-15/hour.

 

About the company: We are a small team of about 10 people, most of whom are makers in our small kitchen near downtown Madison, WI. We produce preserves, simple syrups for cocktails, pickles, candied nuts and pate de fruit candy (both regular and CBD). We will also be representing sales for a local organic cracker company, Potter’s Crackers.

About the job:

This person would assist one of the business owners by executing sales and marketing tasks. These will include: taking orders, reaching out to customers on a schedule and checking in, finding ways to collaborate on marketing, running sales campaigns to existing and new accounts (like cross-selling different product lines, or new accounts in a certain area), responding to new customer inquiries and following up, helping with Instagram and Facebook posting and customer engagement, and assisting with organizing sales and marketing activities.

  • Honest and authentic – engage with customers positively, but as your real self and representing the brand well
  • Good communicator – especially written, but also willing to pick up the phone and call a shop
  • Collaborative and intuitive – work together with shops to see how we can develop win-win placements, have a sense of how often to follow up and how to nurture a lead

  • Enthusiasm for the products we’re making

 

Job details:

  • Can be Madison-based or remote
  • The hours of this position are important because they line up with the shipping hours of one of the product lines (9:30am-3:30pm CT)
  • Mainly you’ll be on your email, there will be some meetings to coordinate internally, and some phone calling to shops. There will be some phone-based Instagram work. Stores will also call with orders; ideally we will set up an internet-based phone number on your cell so you can use that.
  • You’ll manage multiple email addresses and multiple processes and product lines
  • You’ll use a CRM (customer relationship manager) to keep track of all your sales activities and track follow-ups
  • Pay is $13-15/hour. This can include a commission aspect, or be a straight hourly rate. The target base + commission level would be at $13-15/hour at the expected sales total.
