Traditional Wassail with Apples and Cranberry


  • 1/2 gallon fresh apple cider (preferably unpasteurized)
  •  1/4 cup brown sugar
  •  1 6 oz. jar Quince & Apple Apples and Cranberry preserves
  •  8 dashes Angostura bitters
  •  1 cup rum
  •  2 cinnamon sticks
  •  1 t whole allspice
  •  1/2 t whole cloves

Directions:

Combine all ingredients, except the rum, in a stockpot and bring to a boil. Simmer for 30 minutes. Add rum and simmer for 10 minutes more. Strain into a punch bowl or ladle into cups!
